45-Hour Blactaton Educator/Accomplice Training

A foundational professional lactation training course for aspiring Black IBCLCs and folks who support Black families. This course provides students with lactation-specific educational hours that qualify for the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) 95-hour requirements. This training provides the student with a basic knowledge in:

  • Anatomy; Breast & Infant Oral

  • BioChemistry of Lactation

  • Communication & Counseling

  • Clinical Documentation

  • Equipment Use In Lactation

  • Ethical & Legal Considerations of Lactation

  • Introduction of Complimentary Foods

  • Latch & Position

  • Pathology of Lactation

  • Pharmacology & Toxicology

  • Physiology

  • Public Health & Advocacy

  • Weaning

  • And More!

  • November 2024 Cohort will meet virtually over 5 days.

    Beginning in 2025, all cohorts will meet virtually over 3 days for 18 hours. The remaining hours will be completed at the student’s own pace by a designated due date, using an online teaching platform.

    Each cohort will provide students with 45 lactation specific educational hours; which qualifies for the IBLCE requirements.

    Class will not be held on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Certified Blactation Educator or Accomplice (CBE/CBA)

  • IThis training has been approved for the following CERPs by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE):

    1. 37.5 L-CERPS

    2. 3.5 E-CERPS

    3. 1.5 R-CERPS

    • For re certification for current IBCLCs

    • To support and educate families about breastfeeding and lactation

    • Prepare for the IBCLC exam

    • Fulfilling 45 of the 95 required lactation education hours for IBLCE

    • Enhances your qualifications to work in maternal and child health settings, community programs, or advocacy roles

    • Raise awareness about breastfeeding equity and dismantling barriers to lactation support

For those who successfully complete any of the First 5 Alameda sponsored 45-hours trainings, they are eligible to complete our first Certified Blactation Educator/Accomplice - Advance 50-Hours Training.

We are proud to announce that Certified Blactation Educator/Accomplice - Advance Training is now eligible for CERPS through the International Board of Lactation Consultants Examiners.
